JANUARY GENERAL MEETING
Ring in another year of informative gardening topics by attending the Beltsville Garden Club meeting on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008 at 7:30pm in the Cafeteria of the James E. Duckworth School, 11201 Evan Trail, Beltsville, Maryland.
Our speaker for this month will be Bob Stewart; His topic will be Cacti and other Succulents. Bob is a long-time member of BGC. He has a wealth of knowledge about many gardening topics and has shared his gardening experiences and thoughts with us in the past.
Born in Washington, DC, Bob planted his first garden at age 14. After serving in the US Army for 3 years during the Vietnam War, Bob returned and earned BS and MS degrees in ornamental horticulture from the University of Maryland. Bob has worked with Maryland National Park and Planning (MNCPPC) as well as the University of Maryland, where he served as a Horticultural Extension Educator for many years. He retired from the University in 2003, but still finds time to teach classes in the Master Gardener Program. His 35 year interest in cacti and succulents has resulted in a collection of over 300 potted plants that he keeps on a 3-acre plot in Charles County.
Please join us for this informative speaker. We will have plants for the door prize table, and refreshments after the meeting. The public is welcomed and admission is free.
